News Corp’s The Daily iPad news periodical app, which is destined for a weekly subscription cost of $0.99, will be headed to the iPad on January 17th according to All Things D, another News Corp publication. The app will utilize a lot of videos and come with multimedia capabilities, including some sort of mystery 3D effect that people familiar with the project are “excited very excited about.” It’s unclear at this time if Apple will participate in the launch event for the app, but The Daily is said to usher in a new push subscription feature for Apple where iTunes can automatically do recurring billing for the digital periodical. The app was previously rumored for a December launch, but may have been delayed to give the app some time to be polished or to iron out last minute details for a subscription billing service from Apple.
