Why are we not surprised when we read this? It is rather unfortunate that even after hardware manufacturers over the years have issued a statement to users that they ought to rely on original accessories only in order to prevent nasty explosions or burns, folks still won’t listen. Could it have anything to do with the high price of original accessories compared to third party solutions in the market? Perhaps, but what price and risk ratio are you willing to take when it comes to your own safety?

A 29-year-old man who has been identified only by his family name Lee, hailing from Simgokbon-dong, Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province,South Korea, found out the painful way after his unauthorized iPhone charger exploded.

Nice to know that the explosion did not result in a fire which could have disastrous consequences. The small firm that imported the unauthorized charger from China received a protest report from Lee, and the company actually agreed to refund or swap the damaged charger for other goods. One thing’s for sure though – we would think it is safe to assume that Lee will no longer rely on a third party iPhone charger, but purchase an original after this incident.
