Let the battle of the app stores begin. App analytics firm, Distimo, has recently published a new report showing how Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store performed all throughout the year. Distimo’s report reveals that Google Play is tremendously growing in the past four months, with an “aggregated growth in daily revenue of 43 percent across 20 of the largest countries.” Although Apple’s App Store only grew by as much as 21 percent in daily revenue within the same period, the report shows that its overall revenue for the year 2012 has grown 51 percent in the top 20 countries Distimo analyzed.

The countries included Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the U.K., and the U.S. In one particular example, a day in November was analyzed and it showed that the revenues in the Apple App Store reached $15 million, while Google Play only had a $3.5 million revenue. Distimo also showed the top apps based on downloads in both app stores. The list are as follows:
