apple-iwatch-diversityApple Watch despite being announced a couple of months ago will only be launched in 2015. When in 2015, you ask? Well if a leaked memo is anything to go by, we could be looking at a possible release in the spring of 2015. Well it looks like those rumors could be true because according to reports, it seems that Apple’s chip suppliers have started to ramp up the production for the device.

This is according to DigiTimes (via 9to5Mac) which has a spotty track record when it comes to Apple-based rumors, although there are time when they do get it right. That being said, their sources have informed them that Apple has reportedly place as many as 30-40 million orders for the Apple Watch which is no doubt a very big number and a sign that Apple is pretty confident that the device will sell.

Now as you might know, the Apple Watch will rely on sapphire for the covers of the sensors on the underside of the watch. and earlier reports have indicated that Apple’s sapphire suppliers could be facing some production issues, causing supply constraint which in turn could affect the watch’s production. However if this report is to be believed, it looks like Apple has managed to overcome that problem and we could be looking at a more timely launch of the wearable.

As for pricing, it still remains unknown. While Apple has stated that the Apple Watch will be priced starting at $350, it is unclear as to how much the other versions will cost. There are rumors that the steel version of the Apple Watch could go for $500 while the gold model is said to retail for a whopping $4,000-$5,000, putting it clearly in the luxury smartwatch range, although whether or not Apple’s customers will bite remains to be seen.
