samsung logoIt seems like Samsung wants a slice of every pie out there. The company is involved in so many aspects of business, such as white goods, mobile devices, electronic components, music, and now it looks like they could be getting into video as well. According to a recent report from The Information, word has it that Samsung could be planning on launching a video streaming service of their own.

This isn’t the first time Samsung has attempted a video service. If you recall a few years ago, Samsung launched their Media Hub service which was later scrapped. The new rumor suggests that Samsung is thinking about approaching this from a different angle in a service which has been called “Volt”, at least for now.

Instead of focusing on big name movies and TV shows, Samsung Volt is said to focus more on short-form content, although we’re not sure how short we are talking about. This project is said to fall under Samsung’s new EVP of media solutions, John Pleasants, who used to work for Disney’s mobile and gaming division.

The service is also said to be similar to Netflix in the sense that there will be original content, but if you were hoping for a Samsung-produced House of Cards, apparently the videos Samsung had in mind are not like that. It does sound a bit vague at the moment but hopefully more details will emerge later, so do check back with us later for more information.
