Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy Card, its first co-branded credit card in the United States, developed in partnership with Barclays and Visa.
Designed to compete directly with services like the Apple Card, the financial product aims to strengthen Samsung’s consumer ecosystem by offering specialized perks and deep integration with the Samsung Wallet platform.
The Galaxy Card carries no annual fee and is provided as both a virtual card and a physical black metal card.
Through full integration with Samsung Wallet, users can manage their accounts, track expenses, and monitor earned rewards directly from their Galaxy smartphones.
Tiered Cashback Program and Welcome Bonus
The credit card features a structured cashback rewards program tailored to purchases within the brand’s ecosystem and everyday spending:
- 5% Cashback: Direct purchases made through Samsung.
- 3% Cashback: Transactions processed using Samsung Wallet.
- 2% Cashback: Select streaming subscriptions, including Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify.
- 1% Cashback: All other qualifying everyday purchases.
To encourage initial adoption, Samsung is offering a $200 sign-up bonus for new cardholders who spend $2,000 within their first 90 days of account opening.
Availability and Market Strategy
Selected Samsung customers can begin submitting applications immediately, with general public availability opening on July 22. Denny Nealon, CEO of Barclays US Consumer Bank, highlighted the partnership as an effort to deliver embedded digital banking tools that seamlessly align with consumers’ mobile shopping habits.
This launch marks a strategic shift in Samsung’s fintech offerings. By shifting focus to the U.S. market in collaboration with Barclays and Visa, Samsung aims to establish a unified digital payment experience that drives brand loyalty across its broader device ecosystem.
