It is safe to say that the Angry Birds formula has been tried and tested and is getting a bit old. There are only so many ways to fling birds before it get a bit boring, which is why Rovio has been pushing out games based on the franchise but offering up different gameplay, like Angry Birds GO!, a racing game based on the Angry Birds franchise.

Now if you’re a fan of bubble shooters, you will be interested to learn that Rovio has recently announced a new game in the form of Angry Birds Stella POP! The game will be based on the Stella character from Angry Birds and instead of a more traditional bird-flinging game, it will instead task players to shoot bubbles and line them up with matching colors to burst them.

According to Rovio’s description of the game, “Angry Birds Stella POP! brings a twist to bubble shooting gameplay, where gamers strategically fling bubbles to match and pop them, saving critters, toppling piggies and earning power-ups.” The game is available on both the iOS and Android platforms.

It is a free download and adopts the freemium model which relies on in-app purchases of coins in order to generate revenue, but if you think you can get by without the need for coins, it would essentially be a free game.
