chromeupdate-800x709While Safari might be the default browser for iOS devices, there are many iOS users who have turned to Chrome for their browsing needs, and if you are one of them, you might be interested in the latest update that Google has issued to the app. In the latest update for Chrome, Google has added widget and app extension support.

Starting with the widget, if users were to add it to their Notification Center, they will be able to launch a new Chrome tab or launch voice search instantly. This might come in handy for users who might have Chrome buried in one of their many pages of apps or might have stuffed it into a folder, so with this widget it will save users a step or two.

Also it should be noted that Safari does not have a similar feature which means for now, Chrome does have a slight advantage over Apple’s native browser, although to be fair Safari users can rely on Siri to perform their searches. As for app extensions, Chrome will now support iOS Extensions so that if you use a password manager like 1Password or LastPass,  you should be able to take advantage of that feature with no issues.

The app has also been updated with some extra features such as pull to reload and to open/close tabs, and open copied links from other apps. If you have yet to update the app, hit up the iTunes App Store for the download.
