Fallout-Shelter-iOSWhen it comes to mobile games that are raking in the cash when it comes to revenue, it’s hard to beat King’s Candy Crush Saga. According to the developer, last we heard the app managed to pull a whopping $229.5 million in the first quarter which roughly translates to about an average of $2.55 million a day.

However it looks like we might have a new king (pun intended) in the form of Fallout Shelter. For those unfamiliar, Fallout Shelter is a mobile game designed for iOS devices (Android coming soon) that was released only a few days ago during E3. Despite its relatively new status, it seems that the app has managed to knock Candy Crush Saga out of its number 3 spot on the iTunes top-grossing mobile games chart.

Of course whether or not it will be able to maintain that position or climb even further remains to be seen, but this seems to suggest that at least for now, the game could potentially be raking in more money than King’s cash cow that is Candy Crush Saga. Fallout Shelter is a free-to-play title and has in-app purchases where gamers can purchase Lunchboxes.

According to Bethesda’s Pete Hines who spoke to GamesBeat, “We’re very pleased. Fallout Shelter is doing amazingly well, with no real buildup. To take such a light approach to monetization compared to other free-to-play games — we felt like we wanted to err on the side of caution and make it very unobtrusive, make sure it was fun first and foremost. So far so good.”
