moto-g-2014-review-7Early last year, Lenovo announced that they would be buying Motorola Mobility from Google. The deal was officially completed in late October 2014 which means that Motorola phones released before then, such as the 2014 Moto X was technically still a Google product, but that could change this year.

The Chinese company has recently confirmed that come summer 2015, Lenovo plans on launching their very first Motorola handset. Speaking to The Telegraph at Lenovo’s TechWorld event, the company’s chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing was quoted as saying, “We have many new models in development with the Moto brands. so you may see in summer us launching some very exciting products, including phones and watches.”

Lenovo is also expected to continue using Motorola’s brand alongside their own Lenovo branding, claiming that since both brands have different positions in the market, they would be able to maximize their market share that way. It is unknown as to what kind of phones we might expect from Motorola this year, but one of the possibilities is the 2015 Moto X which we have been hearing about recently.

We can also look forward to the second-gen Moto 360 whose photos were accidentally revealed earlier this year at MWC by Lenovo themselves, but apart from that it’s anyone’s guess as to what else Motorola could be up to.
