oneplus-2-review-01For a handset with specs like the OnePlus 2, its asking price is actually pretty decent, so much so that it does not come as a surprise to learn that over in China where the handset was launched, it seems that the company has managed to sell 30,000 units in a whopping 64 seconds!

In fact those are usually numbers one might associate with Xiaomi, but it looks like despite being relatively new to the industry, OnePlus seems to be holding their own just fine. It should be noted that unlike other markets, the OnePlus 2 is available to purchase from the company directly over in China, while other countries have to rely on an invitation system.

That being said, last we checked the waiting list to get an invite to purchase the OnePlus 2 is sitting at over a million, meaning that it could be days, weeks, or even months until it is your turn to purchase the handset. Some have even taken to hacking the invite system in a bid to get ahead of the line.

OnePlus’ invite system is a somewhat novel approach but it helps the company manage inventory. It also acts as a great way for the company to gauge the amount of interest that customers have in its products, thus ensuring that they do not under or over produce its units. Hopefully in the next few years when the company is more established, we’ll have a more conventional means of purchasing the handset. In the mean, kudos to the company!
