tardisk pearIf you’ve ever inserted a flash card into Apple’s SD card slot on their MacBooks, you know that usually this flash card acts as a separate storage device, and that’s because it is. However if you’d rather not have to deal with separate storage, then the TarDisk Pear flash card could be worth taking a look at.

For the most part the TarDisk Pear is a standard flash card. However the main difference is that it will “merge” with your MacBook’s SSD, thus creating a unified storage so that managing your files and your storage space will be easier. This is thanks to the card’s built-in installer that can turn your flash card and SSD into a single Fusion Drive.

Once it is installed, you don’t have to worry about how to juggle storage and you can treat both the SSD and TarDisk Pear as a single drive. The SSD will always be the preferred choice when it comes to storage and this is what the flash card’s software will attempt to prioritize. However if it runs out space, the software will then try to move less-used files to the flash drive instead.

The TarDisk Pear has also been designed to resemble the MacBook’s aluminum finish, so you can slot it in and it will sit flush against your laptop, without anyone knowing that it is there. Unfortunately it will come at a price and that price is $149 for 128GB, and $399 for the 256GB model. Head on over to TarDisk’s website if you’d like to place an order.
