microsoft__logoAs it stands, Cortana exists as a piece of software available on computers, mobile devices, and even wearables like the new Microsoft Band. However according to a report from Wareable, it seems that Microsoft could be working on turning Cortana into a dedicated device that will fit in your ear, kind of like the Moto Hint.

For those unfamiliar with the Moto Hint, it is basically a Bluetooth earpiece but unlike many Bluetooth earpieces out there, the Moto Hint is subtle and sits in your ear so that people can’t really notice it. Apparently the dedicated Cortana wearable is expected to be similar in terms of design in the sense that it will be relatively inconspicuous.

Interestingly enough Wareable’s source tells them that the Cortana wearable (or hearable if you’d prefer) is being aimed primarily at women. We’re not sure why that is or why such a device might suit women more than men, but that’s apparently what’s happening. Prototypes of the device are also expected to be ready by the end of 2015, and it will most likely be in 2016 that we will see it being launched.

No doubt this is an interesting direction that Microsoft is headed towards, but then again the Redmond company seems to be going against the grain these days, like when companies are busy putting out virtual reality headsets, they come up with the HoloLens, and instead of keeping Cortana as an exclusive, they are distributing it as widely as possible. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but how does the idea of a Cortana wearable sound to you?
