It’s interesting that when Apple announced the Apple Watch, there were a ton of third-party companies who came out the gate with Apple Watch stands and docks. You would think that maybe Apple wanted to beat them to the punch by offering their own options, but for some reason we have not heard about such an accessory, at least until now.
Thanks to recent photos obtained by grobgebloggt.de (via 9to5Mac), the alleged photos of the official Apple Watch dock has surfaced. The dock by itself isn’t particularly special. However it is clean and simple, something that we might have expected from Apple. Also unlike some stands, this dock emphasizes on letting the phone lie on its side as opposed to being propped up.
Given that the Apple Watch can function as a bedside clock, we suppose this was the intention. There is a circle in the middle of the dock as you can see in the photos, and when raised, this is actually the magnetic charging mechanism that you will attach the watch to in order to begin its charging process.
Overall pretty simple and straightforward. No word on when Apple will officially launch this accessory (if it is really an official accessory to begin with), but hopefully with the photos leaking online we can expect an announcement soon.
