Apple Watch-Tumbles-4-Up-PRINTFor some reason or the other, Apple has not shared the sales figures of the Apple Watch. It is odd especially when you consider that Apple has been quick to boast how many units they have sold of their other products, which has led to speculation that maybe the watch was not selling as well as Apple had expected.

However analysts on the other hand seem to disagree. In fact according to analyst Horace Dediu of Asymco (as tweeted by Fortune editor Philip Elmer-DeWitt), he has predicted that Apple will sell as many as 21 million Apple Watches within its first 12 months of availability. With an average selling price of $400 per watch, Apple is estimated to rake in a whopping $8.4 billion in revenue from the Apple Watch alone.

Given that Best Buy has recently discounted their selection of Apple Watches by $100, no doubt this will help boost sales of the wearables especially around the holiday season. Those are pretty impressive figures and we have to wonder how this might affect Apple’s rankings in the wearable market.

According to recent figures shared by the IDC, Apple is currently sitting in second place with a market share of 18.6% in the wearables space. Taking the crown is none other than Fitbit who commands a pretty huge 22.2% of the wearables market.
