samsung logo 4According to a rumor back in October, it was suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S7 could be announced in January. Given that CES typically takes place in January, it was speculated that perhaps this is when Samsung will be making their announcement. However it turns out that the rumors might not be true after all.

This is thanks to a recent announcement by Samsung in which they revealed the time and date that they will be hosting their press conference at CES. According to Samsung, the event will take place on the 5th of January and based on their announcement, it seems that we probably won’t be able to expect the handset.

Instead according to Samsung, “Samsung Electronics will once again kick off its CES with a major press conference, unveiling its latest innovations in TV, home appliances and more on January 5.” So from this we can only assume that Samsung’s main announcements will be related to the TV and home appliances, at least as far as CES is concerned.

That being said, this seems to corroborate a rumor from last month that suggested we could look forward to a February announcement instead. Given that MWC tends to be more mobile focused, we suppose this makes sense but until we hear other, you should probably not get your hopes up for now. Either way do check back with us during CES 2016 for all the details.
