xbox-playstation-wall-e3-2013-bE3 will be kicking off next month and while Nintendo has pretty much confirmed that they will not be showing off the Nintendo NX console at the event, no one said anything about Sony or Microsoft and GameStop’s COO Tony Bartel thinks that the event will be ripe for either (or both) companies to announce new hardware.

Speaking at GameStop’s recent financials, Bartel revealed that the company is expecting new consoles to debut at E3 2016 next month. While he did not point fingers or mention any names/brands specifically, the recent rumors have pretty much said everything that he needed to say.

In case you haven’t been keeping up, word on the street is that Sony has a newer and more powerful PS4 console in the works called/codenamed the PS4 Neo. It is supposed to offer up features like 4K resolution support. Recently we have also heard rumors that Microsoft has an upgraded Xbox One codenamed Scorpio, and that it will be more powerful than its predecessor, and apparently even more powerful than the rumored PS4 Neo.

Bartel’s recent statements echo what he said back in April when he expressed his belief that new consoles are imminent, and with E3 around the corner, perhaps we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
