pebble coreA couple of weeks ago, Pebble announced a new series of wearables that they would be launching soon. One of the wearables is called the Pebble Core which is essentially a clip-on fitness tracker, thus giving users the core functions of a fitness tracker minus the fluff and other features that might not be 100% necessary.

Now if you were a little put off by the Pebble Core’s simplistic design and features, you might want to reconsider that position because in a recent announcement, Pebble has revealed that they will be integrating Amazon’s Alexa into the device. This means that the functions and capabilities of Alexa will be crammed into the tiny wearable.

For those unfamiliar, Alexa is the voice assistant AI that powers devices like the Amazon Echo, which so far has received plenty of favorable reviews. Also the openness of Alexa means that Pebble isn’t the first to integrate the feature into their products, and naturally this has given them a headstart over the likes of Google and Apple.

With Alexa integrated into the Pebble Core, users will be able to use their voice to control songs, search for artists and playlists from the likes of Amazon Prime Music, iHeartRadio, and more. It can also brief users on the news headlines, review your Pebble Health summary, order pizzas, get weather and traffic updates, set timers, and control connected home devices. Now for those of you who are interested in the Pebble Core (or the other recently-announced Pebble wearables), you can pre-order them by heading on over to Kickstarter.
