samsung logoBy all accounts Samsung is said to be getting ready to introduce a new voice assistant AI to the upcoming Galaxy S8 in the form of Bixby. Samsung has made references to Bixby on its website and even hinted about it when they talked about working with Google to nurture the AI space.

In case all those instances weren’t enough to prove that the Galaxy S8 will get a new voice assistant, a recent job listing spotted by Roland Quandt revealed that Samsung has a job listing for a “Principal Program Manager”. According to the job description, “Shape the decisions for new capabilities of Service Management Platform. Drive the execution and delivery for Samsung’s upcoming AI (Artificial Intelligence) assistant on Galaxy S8.”

If this doesn’t prove that the Galaxy S8 will have a new AI voice assistant then we don’t know what will. That being said, Bixby (or whatever it will be called) is expected to be more than just your standard voice assistant. Last we heard, it would also work in tandem with your phone’s camera where it can recognize objects just by pointing the camera at it.

Bixby is said to be the result of Samsung acquiring Viv Labs, a company that was founded by Siri’s former creators. In any case the rumors are saying that the Galaxy S8 will be announced on the 29th of March, so check back with us in the coming weeks and months for more details.
