We hear rumors about Samsung launching a “mini” variant of its current flagship smartphone because the company has launched a couple of these variants back in the day. However, we didn’t get a Galaxy S6 mini or a Galaxy S7 mini so it’s getting harder to believe these rumors. Nevertheless, it’s now being rumored that Samsung has a Galaxy S8 mini in the pipeline and it’s claimed to have the specs detailed after the jump.

Rumors out of South Korea suggest that Samsung is developing a Galaxy S8 mini which features a 5.3 inch display. It’s said to feel like a 4.7 inch display as the aspect ratio will be quite wide, 18.5:9 to be precise.

It’s also claimed that the Galaxy S8 mini specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage. It’s even said to feature an iris scanner which is only available on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ for now.

Nothing has been said with regards to the pricing and availability of this rumored handset so it’s far from confirmed at this point in time. It’s also not known whether the display is going to be of the same Infinity Display category as the one found on the Galaxy S8 proper.

There are a lot of variables here that haven’t been confirmed and given that the company hasn’t launched a mini variant in the past couple of years, I’d suggest that you take this rumor with a healthy dose of salt for now.
