galaxy-s7-design_01Come 21st of March, Apple will be making some kind of announcement as evidenced by the invites that the company has sent out. One of those rumored announcements is an iPhone that is said to be known as the iPhone SE, a 4-inch version of the iPhone meant to be a slightly cheaper iPhone model and also meant to replace the iPhone 5s.

That being said, it seems that Samsung wants to launch a device that could compete with the iPhone SE because according to the rumors, Samsung is said to be preparing to launch a smaller version of the Galaxy S7, a mini version if you’d rather, and despite its alleged smaller size, the phone is expected to pack quite a punch.

If the rumors are true, the Galaxy S7 mini will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset under the hood. Alternatively there will also be an Exynos 8890 variant. The mini variant is also said to pack a 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, meaning that it will be bigger than the 4-inch iPhone SE. Basically from what we can tell from the rumors, this phone will be pretty much the same as the current Galaxy S7 handset, just with a smaller, lower-resolution screen.

We’re not sure if launching such a device makes sense since it would detract from the current lineup, but maybe it’s smaller display could allow Samsung to position the device as a more affordable version of the Galaxy S7 for those who don’t really care so much about whether their phones have FHD or QHD displays. That being said until we hear from Samsung officially, take it with a grain of salt for now.
