While other handset makers have been releasing smartphones that come with stereo speakers, Samsung has oddly been sitting this one out despite there being rumors that the Galaxy S8 could feature a stereo speaker setup. However that could change come 2018 with the upcoming Galaxy S9.

In a tweet by Ice Universe (who has been known to have leaked some pretty accurate information in the past), it has been suggested that the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ could finally be launched with stereo speakers. In the tweet below, you can see an image that shows the alleged silhouette of the Galaxy S9 along with indications to suggest that the phone could pack stereo speakers on either end.

Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, but like we said given that many smartphone OEMs are starting to include stereo speakers in their devices, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to follow suit as well. How effective will these speakers be remains to be seen, but until it is official (which last we heard could be in February/March) do take it with a grain of salt for now.

In the meantime there are some tweaks that users can do to give their Galaxy S8 stereo speakers, although this will involve the unlocking of your phone’s bootloader and rooting, which might be a bit too troublesome for some, but the information can be found on the XDA forums if you’re so inclined.
