As you might have heard, Epic recently announced that Fortnite Battle Royale would be launching on mobile devices. They also announced that the game would be getting support for cross-platform play, but unfortunately it seemed that the Xbox One was left out of the list where presumably cross-platform play between Xbox One and PS4 would not be possible.

Unsurprisingly this led to a bit of confusion as to whether Xbox One gamers would be left out completely, but Epic has since come forward to clear the confusion. According to Epic, Xbox One gamers will not be left out and they will be able to enjoy cross-platform games with iOS, Android, PC, and Mac gamers.

They also add, “Contrary to what may have been implied, Microsoft has long been a leading voice in supporting cross-platform play, connecting players across PC, mobile and all consoles. We’ve been working together with them over the last several months to make this possible, and will bring this functionality to Fortnite players on Xbox right along with other platforms.”

It is unclear as to how this will work since PS4 gamers are also expected to enjoy cross-platform support. Perhaps Xbox One and PS4 gamers will be grouped separately when searching for matches. Either way hopefully that clears any confusion that gamers had.
