Point Grey USB 3.0 HD Webcam

Point Grey USB 3.0 HD Webcam

We, like the rest of the world, are eagerly looking forward to USB 3.0, and Point Grey is one of those parties who are certainly busy making full use of USB 3.0. Additional details of its USB 3.0 HD video camera have been released. From what we hear, the camera will sport a 3-megapixel CMOS sensor from Sony, with the sensor churning out raw, uncompressed 1080p images at 60fps. One of the stated benefits of raw HD video is that it allows the computer’s main processor to handle compression, instead of relying on the camera’s components, supposedly offering more flexibility over the various types of compression, while allowing certain processes like facial recognition to work on the uncompressed video for better results. If you need more info, stay tuned as this device will be demonstrated at the IDF between September 22nd and 24th.
