Amio bipedal robot

Robots seem to get more and more commonplace these days, and AIM Lab’s Amio was specially developed to be a true bipedal humanoid robot that comes with three dozen DOFs, standing proud at 150cm tall while bearing a weight that most women would want – 45kg. He walks slower than a geriatric patient though at 1km/h, where he is aided by a couple of CCD cameras for vision, 8 inclination sensors throughout his body, and 4 FSRs (force resistance sensors) per foot in order to locate the ZMP (zero moment point). Built-in speech and vision recognition software helps Amio guess a person’s emotional state. No idea on when he will be faster when walking, but it is developments like these that help improve human-robot interactions in the future.
