DroidSecurity Gets 10,500 New Users Within 24 Hours

It seems that the recent incident, where a bunch of Vodafone HTC Magic smartphones were shipped with the Conficker and Mariposa viruses, has highlighted the issue of mobile device security to users. As a result, it seems that DroidSecurity managed to get a healthy 10,500 new users to download its mobile device security solution in the 24-hours that followed the discovery of the virus. While the virus itself didn’t affect the mobile phone, but when the phone was plugged to a PC using a USB connection, the user ran the risk of getting infected by said viruses, not to mention a Lineage password stealer was also found on the device. Does this mean that we should have antivirus scanners running on our mobile phones all the time in the future?

Press release.
