Lenovo Announces New Environmentally Friendly ThinkPads

Looks like we were right when suggesting that Lenovo was gearing up the release a couple of environmentally friendly ThinkPad notebooks. Sure, the company released them two days before Earth Day 2010 which we originally predicted, but earlier is better than later, right? The new models are the 14-inch L412 and the 15-inch L512 ThinkPads, touted as the greenest ThinkPads ever made. The claim to being eco-friendly comes from it claiming to be up to 40 percent more efficient than other laptops, as well as the fact that they’re partially made from recycled materials (that you probably don’t want to know about). Various configurations are available, including Intel’s Core i3 and i5 CPUs with integrated or ATI Radeon graphics. The entry-level model is priced at $649, and is equipped with a Celeron P4500 CPU, 160GB hard drive and 1GB of RAM, which isn’t too impressive, so you’d probably need to shell out a little more if you’re planning to get this ThinkPad and enjoy the experience. The L412 and L512 ThinkPads should be up for pre-order on Lenovo’s site pretty soon, and are expected to ship early next month.
