Dell has just debuted its Aero smartphone over AT&T, where you can pick one up for $99.99 after agreeing to a new 2-year contract, or decide to take the unlocked route for triple the amount at $299.99. The Dell Aero aims to live up to its namesake, being one of the lightest multi-touch 3.5-inch Google Android-based smartphones Stateside, where it will ship with Quick Office, Facebook support, integrated calendar and contacts, Twitter and other applications from Google such as YouTube and the Android Market. It is interesting to note that while the Dell Aero surprisingly runs on version 1.5 of the Android operating system, Dell decided to customize it heavily with additional features including handwriting recognition and integrated Facebook, although we would say that such smokescreens are easily seen through by seasoned Android users. Perhaps Dell might want to introduce a software update, pronto! More specifications are available in the extended post.
