Asus Eee PC 1000HD hacked into Windows tablet

The Asus Eee PC 1000HD might be your run-of-the-mill netbook, but some smart aleck decided to pull off a hack that turns said netbook into a Windows-powered tablet. It will retain its 10-inch display at 1024 x 600 resolution, running on a 900MHz Intel Celeron processor. While it ships with a choice of Windows XP or Xandros Linux at first, this converted tablet will come installed with Windows 7 instead that comprises of several optimizations for touch input such as larger taskbar icons and support for multitouch gestures. While it isn’t exactly a polished product yet, it does seem to have most kinks ironed out. The Eee PC 1000HD is already a discontinued product officially, which means you can get started on this project for $250 or less thanks to second hand or refurbished models.
