Intel’s AppUp Center Application Store Goes Live
Intel previously announced that it was working on an app store for netbooks and other Atom-powered devices and now the company has officially launched version 1.0. The chip giant has also sealed deals with Best Buy, Dixons, and Croma to distribute computers with the AppUp center pre-installed in the US, UK, and India respectively. Asus is also expected to bundle the Asus App Store on future netbooks from October, which will be a branded version of Intel’s AppUp center. AppUp center will feature free and paid applications from third party vendors which can be easily downloaded and installed. Users will get a 24-hour trial period for all apps, making it easier to give apps a test run. The AppUp center is available for Windows netbooks and machines running MeeGo Linux.
