Robot Arm Prints Words That Kids Type With Their Eyes

The F.A.T. decided to come up with something interesting for the Cinekid festival and the result was a device that allowed kids to write their names with their eyes for printing by a robot arm. The setup included a glasses-free version of the EyeWriter, originally developed as an assistive technology that uses IR LEDs to generate a reflection of your eyes that a PS3 camera can use to track your gaze. All kids need to do is look at the keys on a virtual keyboard to spell out the message. After that, a robot arm prints out the name on a big sheet of paper for the kids to take home. Seems like a great way to get the next-generation interested in robots and technology while they’re still young. Check out a video demonstration after the jump.
