Sony allowed to inspect PS3 hacker’s hard drive

Things are getting a little messier for the famous hacker George Hotz (GeoHot). The hacker, who is behind the PS3 and iPhone jailbreaks, is currently in hot soup with Sony after he posted the method of jailbreaking the PS3 online. While Sony recently managed to get a temporary restraining order against him, the electronics giant recently scored another win as it was granted the ability to inspect files related to the exploit on GeoHot’s hard drive and the judge also ordered Hotz to not delete any files before Sony takes a peek at it. To be honest, you can bet that many folks are wondering why jailbreaking an iPhone is legal but jailbreaking Sony’s PS3 is illegal.
