FCC gets hold of Samsung SCH-W899

The Samsung SCH-W899 Android-powered smartphone was first seen in December last year, and having hit the FCC, here are internal and external photos of said handset. Touted to be a pretty bizarre device in its own right, it comes with not one, but two Super AMOLED displays which are arranged back-to-back in a clamshell form factor. On the front, its LCD will be located near the standard Android button set, while its interior Super AMOLED display will be the primary Android display whenever you open the SCH-W899. This means one is able to navigate through the Android UI even when the phone is shut, now how about that? Of course, with two independently acting displays, they can’t be used simultaneously. Since the Samsung SCH-W899 received FCC approval for the GSM 1900 band only, it doesn’t look as though it will be arriving Stateside anytime soon. Bummer.
