Sony Ericsson Urushi runs on Android, too

Sony Ericsson isn’t exactly the name that would come to one’s mind where Android smartphones are concerned, since they do not have the portfolio that HTC boasts of. Well, that does not mean Sony Ericsson isn’t capable of churning out good looking handsets, it is just that the company has gained an infamy for its slow release, if at all, of software updates. The latest handset to be spotted would be the Sony Ericsson Urushi, sporting a mid-sized 3.2″ display at 854 x 480 resolution. Known as the ST18i if you are particular with model numbers, it will not be as small or slim as the Xperia Arc, but that is perhaps due to the fact that it carries an 8-megapixel camera sensor which is capable of 720p video recording, carrying similar internal parts as with the Arc.

Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread is the operating system version – at least it is updated, instead of being stuck in Eclair or something older. No idea on pricing, but whispers abound that the Sony Ericsson Urushi will be released sometime later this September – on which continent, we aren’t too sure either.
