Sprint announces Samsung Conquer 4G for budget-friendly smartphone

Sprint has just announced a spanking new budget-friendly smartphone known as the Samsung Conquer 4G which will roll out this coming July 24th, sporting a single-core 1GHz processor – something which might be deemed as high end over a year ago. Apart from that, you will get Android 2.3 Gingerbead underneath the hood, with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats, 4G connectivity support over WiMax and a side-sliding physical QWERTY keyboard. At the back is a 3.2-megapixel camera alongside a 3.5″ touchscreen Super AMOLED display with HVGA resolution.

Sprint does seem to have the high-end market covered with the recent HTC EVO 3D launch, and perhaps they too want to expand their wings with the mid-range market by rolling out the Samsung Conquer 4G. There is no word on pricing at the moment, but it should not burn too large a hole in your pocket. Would you recommend a mid-range phone to your friends, or does your clique always look out for the latest and greatest?
