HP Movie Store opens up, looking for HP TouchPad audience

Going to the cinemas these days can be quite the expensive affair – you will need to look for parking at the mall and fight for your space, queue up with the rest of the million folks who want to watch Harry Potter, make sure the concession stand gets your order right, while trying to make sure your family or date is well taken care of during the entire process. Why not just rent a DVD or Blu-ray disc instead, and watch the movie right in the comfort of your own home? It seems that movie rentals has turned a corner with the HP Movie Store app that has appeared on the webOS-powered HP TouchPad tablet – letting you enjoy movie content there and then.

To put it in a nutshell, the HP Movie Store app is a cloud-based movie store, where you can watch (and own) your favorite shows from $9.95 a pop, while rentals start from $2.99 and TV episodes at $1.99 for each episode.

Of course, this does not mean cinemas will go out of business anytime soon. After all, you won’t be able to get 3D visuals on your webOS 3.0 TouchPad, can you? There are two coins to each side of the story, so it really depends on which mode of entertainment you are more comfortable with.
