Man gets a smartphone dock built into his prosthetic arm

A man in the UK named Trevor Prideaux who spent his life working with the aid of a prosthetic left forearm recently found a way to make it more useful: by building a smartphone dock into it. While the dock won’t give the phone HDMI output, laptop capabilities or even charge the phone – it does hold the smartphone in place, which makes it easier for a man like him to use and store when unneeded.

With touchscreen phones taking precedent over feature phones in today’s world, a dock like this could help out physically-challenged folk who would otherwise have trouble operating such large devices with only one hand. I can’t say for sure if this is the first time it’s ever been done, but it does make you wonder why it’s not very common – perhaps this will kickstart a trend? Users will probably have to stay loyal to a single phone though, since it won’t be cheap to refashion a new arm dock each time they use a different model.
