Google Maps 6.0 for Android supports indoor maps

Google Maps 6.0 AndroidWe’ve constantly pointed out the fact that Google gives more love to its Maps for Android app than any other platform and this new update drives the point home even more. Not that it’s a bad thing, mind you; after all Android is Google’s baby. To celebrate Google Maps for mobile’s 6th birthday, the company has released Google Maps 6.0 for Android which introduces a couple of new features to the navigation app.

For the first time ever, Google Maps for Android now has support for indoor maps. Whether you’re finding your way around an airport or a shopping mall – Google Maps makes sure you won’t get lost. While not all locations are available yet, it’s a start and you can expect more places to be included in the future. All you have to do is zoom into a map to activate the feature: if Google Maps has an indoor map of the building you’re in, it’ll show.

Google Maps 6.0 also includes a new way to switch between features using the toolbar, and a new Places home screen. All in all, it’s a pretty significant update for one of Google’s most popular apps around. Grab the latest version of Google Maps from the Android Market.
