Google Latitude Leaderboards launched

Are you one who cannot wait to be mayor in your favorite hangout thanks to Foursquare and your corresponding device that has the app? I myself do not really see the significance of being a mayor at a public place, when you can always be the king of your own castle and run your little domain in just the way and method you like. But I digress – Google sees some value in Foursquare’s model, and intends to challenge them in this area by quietly rolling out Latitude Leaderboards. With Latitude Leaderboard, check-ins will earn you points that are then added up at the end in order to rank Google+ users on a global leaderboard. Of course, not everyone is privy to this particular feature as at press time (typical Google), and it seems to reveal itself only after you check-in somewhere. I guess that would place it under the experimental section of things at the moment, and it should be a matter of time before folks get serious with Latitude Leaderboards.
