Optimus LTE Tag launched in Korea

We’re only a week away from MWC 2012, but LG has already started unveiling its devices ahead of the event. Earlier today we had the LG Optimus Vu, and now there’s a one more smartphone from the Korean electronics manufacturer – the LG Optimus LTE Tag. Despite carrying the Optimus LTE name, the phone seems to be a lower spec’d version of its predecessor. The LG Optimus LTE Tag has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3″ (800 x 480) IPS display, 16GB of internal storage, a 5-megpaixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and a 1,700mAh battery.

The phone will also feature NFC support – which is the whole reason for the phone’s name, since it works with LG Tag+ (special stickers and tags that can be programmed to automatically change the phone’s settings). For example, users can walk into an office and swipe a tag to put their phone in silent mode and activate WiFi. Using a tag on the car dashboard could be programmed to turn on Bluetooth, GPS and raise the volume. A pretty nifty feature if you ask me.

The phone will go on sale in Korea late February for 800,000 Korean Won ($710).
