Sony Xperia Play gets Ice Cream Sandwich beta

Great news for Sony Xperia Play owners – the designed for gaming Android phone has been given its official upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich in the form of a beta release from the folks at Sony. However, since the update is in beta, it isn’t for everyone just yet. You can expect certain features to be missing or not working properly on the device. The whole point of the beta is for developers to test Ice Cream Sandwich on the phone and figure out what issues need to be addressed.

As usual, you’ll need an unlocked phone in order to flash the beta ROM, though Sony explicitly states that you should be an advanced developer with extensive knowledge in how to install, and switch between different ROMs. So if you’re unsure of what you’re doing, stay away from this beta and wait for the official public release instead.
