Galaxy Nexus sold on Google Play

Galaxy Nexus ReviewWho would have thought that you were able to pick up a Galaxy Nexus from, of all places, Google Play? Yes sir, what was once the pantheon of all downloadable (paid or otherwise) content for the Android platform will now offer hardware as well, where a new Devices section has been set up in the Google Play web store, allowing you to pick up an unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus in a jiffy. Rest assured, the Galaxy Nexus is far from finished in terms of a smartphone, as it is capable of handling just about anything and everything else you throw at it from Google Play.

Developed by Samsung, the Galaxy Nexus will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, featuring functions such as Android Beam and Google+ mobile hangouts. Not only that, your eyes will also definitely appreciate the 4.65” HD Super AMOLED display. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus will retail for $399 on Google Play in the US, and you will be able to use it on your favorite GSM network (T-Mobile or AT&T for most folks) without having to being locked down to a 2-year contract.

In addition, expect this version of the Galaxy Nexus to come pre-installed with the Google Wallet app, enabling you to go shopping at outlets that support NFC without having to carry a wallet around. Google is also generous enough to throw in $10 credit to get you started right out of the box, as an encouragement to break your mobile wallet virginity.
