Leaked Dell Windows 8 tablet isn’t so convincing, report says

Yesterday, we wrote to you about Dell’s Latitude 10 Windows 8 tablet that, according to the screenshot, will be powered by an Intel Clover Trail Atom dual-core processor and will be accompanied by a 2 GB RAM and an Intel integrated graphics chipset. While the idea of Dell launching a tablet running on Windows 8 is interesting, PC World argues that the incoming tablet and its specs are relatively “weak”.

Explaining the reason for the assumption, PC World cited that the alleged specs of Dell’s tablet are nothing different when compared to most Windows desktops and laptops available today. Although it is logically unfair to compare tablets with laptops, the publication argues that the price of the incoming tablet from Dell could cost even higher than a fair entry-level laptop having the same specs.

“Will users be willing to pay a premium to get that same mediocre system in tablet form? While there is no pricing yet announced for these Windows 8 tablets, it seems relatively safe to assume they’ll cost more than $300. In fact, I won’t be surprised if they come in somewhere between $700 and $1000,” PC World said. The report seems substantial. It could have been better if Dell will up the ante a bit to 4 GB RAM, which we think, should be the minimum for any device running Windows 8.
