Sony Xperia S Android 4.0 update in June announcement was made in error

As we had reported earlier, the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sony Xperia S was originally expected to arrive some time in June. We’re sure that many a Xperia S owner was pleased with the news, but unfortunately it looks like that June date might have been a mistake after all. According to Sony, it seems that whoever posted the message about the May/June Android 4.0 update for the Xperia S was mistaken and that the May/June timeframe was for other Xperia devices.

If that is the case, when can Xperia S owners expect the Android 4.0 update then? According to the Sony Xperia support staff who got the dates mixed up, the Android 4.0 update for the Xperia S can be expected in the latter part of Q2. No specific dates were mentioned but if you own an Xperia S device, be sure to check back with us now and then as we will keep you updated on the update itself! Until then if Android 4.0 is what you’re really after, we’re sure that there are custom ROMs for the Xperia S that should give you a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich, although it might require a bit of technical knowledge.
