Huawei Ascend D2 announced

Here we are with yet another handset from Huawei right after the Honor 2 announcement – it does seem as though we are dealing with plenty of sequels here this time around. The Huawei Ascend D2 could probably be the poor man’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, considering how it is thrust into the phablet category with its 5-inch touchscreen display at HD resolution. Apart from that, the Huawei Ascend D2 is no slouch underneath the hood, considering how it carries a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, with a rather beefy 13-megapixel camera at the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter for your video call needs.

There will also be a 3,000mAh battery to drive the Ascend D2 throughout the work day, and hopefully, beyond, while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be made available right out of the box so that you need not wait for a software update – perhaps for Android 4.2 though. The Huawei Ascend D2 looks set for a China release sometime next year, which by then, the hardware specifications might just get bumped down the pecking order and then some. No idea on how much it will cost though.
