Apple’s US Mobile Phone Market Share Increased To 18.5% According To Survey

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that according to a study, it would seem that iOS’ market share in the US had overtaken Google’s Android mobile operating system, and now it seems that in a new survey conducted by comScore MobiLens of the US mobile phone market, it looks like Apple’s market share has grown by 1.4%, giving them a market share of 18.5% for November of 2012, an increase from August where a market share of 17.1% was reported. Unsurprisingly Samsung has taken the top spot with a hefty chunk of 26.9% market share, putting Apple in second place. Other Android manufacturers such as LG, Motorola and HTC have placed third, fourth and fifth respectively. Interestingly it would seem that based on the survey, HTC’s market share in the US is only that of 5.9% which is actually a drop from 6.3% as previously reported, lending support to HTC’s current financial plight, although hopefully with a licensing agreement with Apple in place, 2013 will be where we see HTC rebound and reclaim some of its lost market share.
