Google Maps Web Version Reportedly Working Again On Windows Phone

It seems that Google has finally decided to allow its mapping service to work on Windows Phone. If you can recall last week, a few Windows Phone users reported that Google Maps wasn’t working on their Windows Phone device via Internet Explorer. Google responded saying that it never supported Google Maps on the browser because IE is not a WebKit browser. Albeit Google’s reason sounded fair enough, others speculate that it was more like a friendly fire.

Today, however, we are hearing reports from Windows Phone users that they can now access Google Maps via maps.google.com. One user posted on one of The Verge’s forums saying that he was able to access Google Maps on his Windows phone. Mat Smith from fellow gadget site Engadget is also confirming the report, saying that he was able to test the feature while boarding on a bus while at CES 2013. Currently, we’re not seeing the feature on our end. But we will let you know once we find out.
