Next-gen Nexus 7 Could Use Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset Instead [Rumor]

The current-gen Google Nexus 7 tablet is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra-3 chipset, but if you’re wondering what sort of revisions the next-gen Nexus 7 will bring, Digitimes is reporting that according to their sources, the next-gen Nexus 7 tablet could come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset instead. So what’s with the switch, you ask? Well apparently ASUS, who is the manufacturer of the Nexus 7, feels that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset is more LTE and voice-friendly. Of course there is the option of going with the Tegra-4 which has LTE enabled, but supposedly NVIDIA will not be able to supply ASUS with enough Tegra-4 chipsets by the time the Nexus 7 launches, supposedly in May during Google I/O. Will this be the case? Since these are merely rumors, we suggest taking it with a grain of salt but check back with us during Google I/O for the details.
