Plants vs. Zombies fans have been impatiently waiting for its sequel, Plants vs. Zombies 2,to be released exclusively onto iOS on July 18. If you were one of these people, you want to sit down for this as PopCap has announced the game is being delayed.

The news of Plants vs. Zombies 2’s delay comes from the game’s official Twitter account as they say the game “will no be released later in the summer.” No specific reason was given for the delay, although follow-up tweets say PopCap wants to “make sure the game lives up to fans’ expectations.”

Unfortunately for you non-iOS owning Plants vs. Zombies fans, this delay doesn’t mean you’ll be miraculously receiving the game any time sooner as the Twitter account confirms Plants vs. Zombies 2 “will release on Apple products first.” As of now, there’s no word yet on when exactly the game will be made available on additional platforms, especially the PC where the original game was first released, although we’re sure we’ll hear more about other versions of Plants vs. Zombies 2 when we get closer to its iOS release.
