The Lyon Is A 7″ Windows 8 Reference Design Tablet That Could Cost $350

Tablets come in a variety of sizes, ranging from the larger 10” models to the more diminutive 7”, and if you wish that there would be more 7” Windows 8 tablets, ODM Inventec showed off a 7” prototype codenamed Lyon at Computex in Taiwan last week. Like we said, this is a prototype and is meant to be a reference model, meaning that companies who don’t have the funds of resources for an R&D arm, they will be able to use this reference design in creating a tablet of their own.

So what sort of specs are we looking at? The Lyon tablet will first of all sport a 7” display with a 1280×800 resolution. It will also be powered by Intel’s new Atom Bay-Trail M processor, accompanied by 2GB of RAM (it could also come in 4GB or 8GB varieties), 64GB-128GB internal storage, WiFi, 3G/LTE compatibility and a 2,400mAh battery. It also has the potential to cost as much as $350. We’re not sure which companies will be picking this reference design up, but it’s good to know that there are options out there.
